This is terribly embarrassing, but I find that I do like to have these available to me with the click of a mouse, so here I am - finally exposing just how few books I read in 2008. (2009 is starting out even more slowly so something must be done!)
Native American Wisdom - edited by Kristen Marie Cleary
The Fourth Bear - Jasper Fforde
The Lucifer Effect - Philip Zimbardo
Duma Key - Stephen King
Blaze - Richard Bachman
That’s it! Five measly books. I think that’s my worst since I started keeping track. What’s going on with me? I must step away from the computer and the TV and PICK UP MY BOOKS! Life is too short to ignore that library full of books!
At least I’ve already finished one this year and I’m in the middle of two others right now. Let’s hope I can keep it up! Otherwise, I’ll have just that one tiny little book to my credit this year. How depressing!
(P.S. This is for Jesse. I know I didn’t mention the cats or the garden but at least this isn’t something bad about me physically, yes?)
Phew, MUCH better!
Good heavens above! How on earth did you manage that? I’ve probably managed five books already since April! If you asked me what books I read last year I doubt I’d remember than all, but then, I don’t work, and I have no kids at home - and no pets either right now, apart from the goldfish. Do they count?
I tend to read at least two books at a time, often four or five, and on occasion six - though I have to make sure they are different genres when I’m reading that many or I get mixed up with the plots. LOL!
Right now, I’m reading a book on dog training, a Julia Quinn, a bog standard bodice-ripper (nameless and rightly so, although it’s quite good), I’m halfway through the latest Terry Pratchett, and I’ve just started a crime thriller by Fay Kellerman. I like to keep a book in each room.
OH is just as voracious, but can only read one at a time. He went through a phase of not being able to settle with a book and it really worried him - he didn’t know what to do with himself. He was really pleased when the bug bit again. Don’t worry about it, it’ll come back to you.
“Reading more” is never on my to do list, as I probably average more than a book a week. Last week on vacation I finished one, polished off three more, and started another! If anything, I spend too much time reading, but I never resolve to read less.
