Well, that was exciting.  Glad there wasn’t any more damage.

This was surreal, wasn’t it?

EEP!

Let’s hope it was because they were trying to avoid a cat crossing the road and not because they had too many drinks (or were too busy texting).

Wow - I feel all caught up.  Didn’t even know you were in pt.
Nice to have 4 days in a row off.  And if it does snow more, you won’t have to tackle the roads.

I read about your dinner.  It sounded terrific.
Have a nice day!

I think these are good things.

I’ve never liked the smell of cigarettes (grew up in a house where 4 packs of cigarettes a day were smoked), and never salt anything.

Any time we eat out in a restaurant, I may as well just leave a glass of water by the bed.  I’m thirsty all night long.

Books I Read in 2007

Happy New Year, everyone!  It’s been a really good one for me so far, so I’m hoping for even better things in 2008.

Speaking of better things, here is my list of books that I read in 2007.  It is by far better than the woeful list that I published last year of the books I read in 2006.  I’m pretty satisfied with this one.  Lots of good books, too, with a little bit of trash thrown in to keep things balanced.  raspberry

(And I already finished one in 2008, so that’s fun!)

1.  Shopgirl by Steve Martin

2.  The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie

3.  The Circus in Winter by Cathy Day

4.  The Survivor:  Bill Clinton in the White House by John F. Harris

5.  On Bullshit by Harry G. Frankfurt

6.  Sybil by Flora Rheta Schreiber

7.  Like a Lampshade in a Whorehouse by Phillis Diller with Richard Buskin

8.  Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling

9.  I Me Mine by George Harrison

10.  Sarah by Marek Halter

11.  The Baron in the Trees by Italo Calvino

12.  The Big Over Easy:  A Nursery Crime by Jasper Fforde

13.  The Last Best Hope by Ed McBain

14.  On Truth by Harry G. Frankfurt

15.  Lisey’s Story by Stephen King

16.  Four Souls by Louise Erdrich

17.  Misquoting Jesus:  The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why by Bart D. Ehrman

18.  Playing for Pizza by John Grisham

19.  Missing Susan by Sharyn McCrumb

20.  When I Am An Old Woman, I Shall Wear Purple edited by Sandra Haldeman Martz

21.  The Loop by Nicholas Evans

This is a good list for me.  The most I’ve read in a year since I started keeping track in 2004.  So I’m pleased - and looking forward to my next year of books.  There are hundreds of good ones waiting for me in my library.  And, coincidentally, it’s time to pick out a new one.  Yay!

Good job, honey!  I think this year I will make an effort to read more as well.  I’ve really been enjoying the Thursday Next books that I’ve been reading so I’m off to a good start.

I’ve read #20 and 21.  And I was wondering if you have a suggestion of something I really should read.  Right now, I’m reading “To Kill a Mockingbird” for my book group, and even though I know it’s great, can’t really get into it.
I’m looking for some good suggestions.

You’re the first person I’ve ‘met’ who read The Satanic Verses.  There are a couple in your list I’d like to read. Now I’m going to try and make a list of 2008 books!

Hey, thanks for sharing your lists. I’ve read a couple of these; “When I am an old woman...” and “Sybil”. I’ll be sure to check the others out. Harry Potter is in the works, of course. I think this is a cool idea, to keep a list each year. Very cool.
