It's late, I know, but here's the Monday salute to one of my favorite artists or groups.
Tonight's hot topic - Kate Bush
Years and years and years ago, when I was at the young, tender age of 18, I heard my first Kate Bush song. I absolutely hated it. My boyfriend at the time (who later became my first husband) kept insisting that I listen to her music but I thought it was AWFUL! (That's because I didn't LISTEN!) Then he was going to make me a tape (years before CDs) and I asked him to put one song on the tape - "Fullhouse" from the Lionheart album. I kinda, sorta liked it.
I listened. And then I listened again. I REALLY listened. It's been a whirlwind since then. Kate is my absolute favorite singer of all time, bar none. She has got it all. She has a sensational voice, she's an extraordinary songwriter, she produces, she directs a lot of her videos, she's gorgeous, and she plays the piano on top of all that. There's so much of her laid out in each of her songs.
If you don't hear it right at the beginning, keep listening. It's all in there. Read the words, listen to the instrumentation, listen to her doing her own backing vocals, listen to the musicians she surrounds herself with. It's all there. You just have to listen.

from the album "Lionheart"
(still my favorite of all of her albums)

One of my all time faves!! I first saw her on Saturday Night Live singing 'Them Heavy People' and I was WOW'd. I went to work the next day, telling my co-workers how great she was and none of them understood me. They were Greek, you see. Just kidding. They had all seen her and none of them really liked her. And it's been like that ever since. A lot of people don't seem to get her, but those that do REALLY do! I do. She never ceases to amaze me with her talents. Now if we could just get her to do another concert...but, alas, I think that is never to be.
I thank you and Buzz for turning me on to Kate years ago!
