CAN’T GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD

(Title Credit: Electric Light Orchestra / Eldorado / 1974)

Something terrible is happening to me. Evidently, a vicious little seed was planted in my brain while on the way to North Carolina. We were traveling with a bunch of friends to go have a very fun vacation in the Outer Banks and we had walkie-talkies between the cars so that we could coordinate potty breaks and what not. We shared a set of walkie-talkies with our friends Cindy and Jesse and, to be funny, we kept playing snippets of the songs we were listening to. Mind you, we played them snippets of “Build Me Up, Buttercup” and the theme from “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” and “Classical Gas.” Harmless, wholesome songs! At one point, they played a snippet of a song that they were listening to. I don’t know what the name of the song is but it’s by the Lords of Acid. It wasn’t the same type of song that we were listening to. No, not so much.

But here’s what happened. Now I have this one line from the song that creeps up into my conscious mind every once in a while, mostly when I hear the word “honey.” If you know what song I’m referring to, you’ll understand the situation I am in. And it’s not like I know any of the rest of the song – just that one line that starts out “Honey, come here…” How do I deal with this?

Thanks a lot, Cindy and Jesse!!

Lords of Acid..I used to listen to them back in the day. Pretty intense techno group. I remember two songs distinctly...one had to do with a ahemm..cats. and the other..well...lets just say it was "rough".
