Happy Earth Day to you, happy Earth Day to you, happy Earth day, dear earthlings, happy Earth Day to you!
Every time this day rolls around, I feel like digging in my closet for those earth shoes I wore back in high school. Remember them? They were very strange. I used to wear toe socks and earth shoes. And I was not alone – not by a long shot! What were we thinking??
The answer to the question that was posed to me yesterday is: Yes, I do take requests.
So, the first (and, so far, only) request I have received is from the one I adore, and he requested that I talk about Lene Lovich. With pleasure!
Back in my teens, Lene Lovich’s music was described to me as “Polish Punk Rock”. Looking back on that description, I have no idea what that means, considering she’s half Yugoslavian and zero Polish. But it scared the hell out of me then! It took a long time for me to listen to her music at all because I thought she might twist my brain into illogical pretzel shapes. Perhaps she did. I finally listened to her and thought she was simply extraordinary. (Extraordinary – does that mean more ordinary than most? Extra Ordinary?) Anyway, it’s an experience to listen to Lene. If you get the chance, go do it. You will never be the same.

You gotta love someone who looks like this!

Is extra-ordinary - like really unique or very unique? Ha!
