BLUEBIRD

(Title Credit: Paul McCartney and Wings / Band on the Run / 1973)

Yesterday, my mom brought mealworms with her to Easter dinner. No, they were not on the menu for the humans – she brought them for me to feed to the bluebirds that live around our house. Wasn’t that nice? So this morning, I put 5 mealworms out in a dish and set it on the railing of my deck because that’s where I tend to see the bluebirds in the morning. I went out later to check and see if any had been consumed. Four of the little buggers had gathered into a group on one side of the dish, leaving one poor sucker sitting there by himself. I told them to stop being so clique-y and went back inside. Maybe they think there’s safety in numbers. Maybe they’re just trying to get warm – it’s a little chilly in the shade this morning.

By the way, "Band on the Run" is the first album I ever bought with my very own money. It was money that I saved by skipping lunches when I was in junior high. Back then, food was not that important to me. You’d never see me scrimping in that fashion these days! The album cost me $6.00. Can you imagine? That was a lot of money back then for a 13-year-old who had no source of income and I don’t even like Paul McCartney very much. What possessed me?

(That’s because I just finished reading my son’s site and that was the song that he mentioned – thanks, Jesse!)
