There are songs that affect me strictly on an aural basis – that is, the music itself is basic and speaks directly to my hypothalamus – do not pass GO, do not collect $200. It has nothing to do with the lyrics. One of these songs is “Days to Dust” by Grey Eye Glances. That’s the song that was in my head this morning when I woke up. What in the world was I dreaming about? I don’t know but it’s nice to know that my unconscious mind was off having a good time while I was sleeping.
I had to go look up the hypothalamus to make sure I was referencing the proper area of my brain and I found this description:
The Hypothalamus
"The hypothalamus is one of the most important parts of the brain, involved in many kinds of motivation, among other functions. The hypothalamus controls the "Four F's":
1. fighting;
2. fleeing;
3. feeding; and
4. mating.
Priceless!
np – Close Your Eyes – Grey Eye Glances
from the album “A Little Voodoo”

I love the four 'f's. That is classic.
