(Title Credit: The Beatles / Revolver / 1966)
I have finally found the thing that happened on my birthday! I thought it was going to be National Mustard Day. We thought that it occurred on August 5th, but upon closer inspection, we found that it really occurs on the first Saturday in August. You have no idea how happy I almost was about that! First, nothing has ever happened on my birthday, except that they found Marilyn Monroe dead. No, she didn’t die on that day, they found her. What’s that? Nothing, that’s what. And secondly, I have a very special bond with mustard. Ask anyone who was sitting in Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Austin, TX, that very hot summer day when I got so blasted on margaritas and shots of tequila that I could barely stand up. I found out later that I launched into a diatribe on how much I love mustard. I don’t remember any of that. But what a day that would have been for me – National Mustard Day on my birthday. Now that I know it’s not true, I’ve had to keep looking. So here it is – "Revolver" was released on August 5th, 1966. I knew something special happened on that day!
To the point of my title, here’s a quote (from me): “There are probably no two people who are better at casting aspersions and biting witticisms than we are.“
And the reason that I chose the Beatles for my title is because there were so many lyrics that could be interpreted in more than one way. So my quote bears further scrutiny. Do I mean that it is both aspersions and witticisms that we are casting, or are we casting only aspersions and actually biting the witticisms?
