Odd things have been going on in my head lately. This may be the understatement of the year ‘cause, if you know me, you know I’m nothing if not odd! But this is getting really weird. My head is melting songs together, making new ones. I may actually be violating some copyright laws subconsciously…
Since as far back as I can remember, I’ve always had a song in my head. Not the same one – I just always, always have a song in my head. You can ask me at any waking moment what’s playing in my head and I will have an answer. But my mind is playing tricks on me now. The other day, the song that was “now playing” in my head was “I Saw a Bird Fly Away”, which is off of Dar Williams’ latest album, when suddenly the song morphed into “Allentown” by Billy Joel. It happened again when I was minding my own business listening to Clarice Rose sing “Little Red Wagon” in my head and here comes Dave Matthews singing “Sweet Up and Down” right on the tail end of one of Clarice’s phrases! It’s not like the second song takes over and then my “now playing” selection is something else – no. I can easily continue on with the first song, interspersing the second song as appropriate.
I’m concerned about synapses misfiring.
Oh, and since this is my very first posting when I told my husband that I would never, never post anything, I’d like to blow a great big kiss to my best friend and the love of my life, Dave – or you guys probably know him better as Buzz. Thanks for getting me all torqued about this stuff and I hope I can do you proud!
